We've already ticked off a lot: eating a bagel in Montreal, eating poutine in Quebec (yuck), watching Riverdance in Nova Scotia, beaching on Prince Edward Island. Yesterday we even uploaded our second vlog video to YouTube.
Now we're in Ottawa, making a sign with the sonorous name "Edmonton" to pay a visit to our friend Brian. 3,500km away. Like Barcelona-Moscow. Or Tromsø-Milan. We want to arrive at the weekend, because there's a charity run that we want to take part in.
The weather has been reasonably good so far. We've only had two rainy days, otherwise it's been pleasantly warm. During the day and at night, however, it's quite chilly and so far we've managed to avoid camping as much as possible.
Ahead of us now lies a stretch of highway, famous and infamous as "Hitchhiker's Hell". There are stories about Northern Ontario that hitchhikers have waited there for days without being picked up. Some are even petrified there and stand as a memorial to anyone who dares to try and stop a car. We are curious to see how we get through hell.
We will report on this.
In the meantime, below is a video about our first hitchhiking experiences in Newfoundland:
